JRA invites the world's top executives in the retail industry to international Retail Information Seminar and Forum, where their management philosophies and strategies will be shared and Japanese retailing will be reviewed both from inside and outside. JRA also offers the Management Seminar, which provides information on business theme and issues such as management analysis of retail industry and logistics, etc., for daily business use. In addition the Lecture on Economy and Management is held for the purpose of learning economic, market and consumption trends, etc., at home and abroad.

Many people regularly visit the JRA Home Page. The latest information about JRA service, U.S. and European retail industries and summaries of JRA seminars, etc. It is also linked to the HPs of our member companies and organization.


JRA has made representations and requests to the Diet and administrative organization with regard to issues relating to distribution and retailing, such as administration and finance, tax systems, labor, city development, realignment of distribution structures, etc., which have been reflected in distribution and retailing policies.


JRA has been actively engaged in research activities through its committees and study group. JRA has six committees includes an International Committees/ The retail industry is now in a revolutionary age, facing globalization, changing consumers and advanced information technology. Each of our committees has focus on the globalization of Japanese retailing, Supply Chain Management as a management strategy and has done various research based on consumer questionnaires. At the same time, JRA considers information as intellectual property and does research on Knowledge Management in order to utilize information as a source of companies' competitive powers.
