History
In May 1978, the Japan Retailers Association (JRA) was proposed and established
by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other retail-related
organizations such as the Japan Department Stores Association and
Japan Chan Stores Association with the objectives of contribution
to the improvement of life through steady advancement and development
of the retail industry in Japan. |
Philosophy
Today, in the rapidly changing industrial structure of Japan, the
social role and mission of the retail industries are becoming increasingly
important. People expect much of the retail industry. It is hoped
that the retail industry would be the driving force in raising consumers'
quality of life as well as the being medium for revitalizing the
local industry, offering amenities, creating jobs and providing opportunities
for communication among communities. Representing an industry, which
is closely associated with the customers, JRA hopes to solves and
contribute to the development of retail industry in general, regardless
of the size, type and form of business, from the viewpoint of customers.
